Hylite have designed this tubular heater to be a cheap-to-run. Unlike other tubular heaters, this one comes with a thermostat. The tube comes with mountings that allows it to be put on the floor or attached to a wall.
Q. I am looking for a heater to use in my shed when i am grooming my pets to keep me warmer, do you think this would be suitable?
A. The tube heater is more of a frost protector than a physical heater. If your looking to heat an area then the Bio Green Montana 2kW heater will be perfect for the job. (Just enter FIND ME QUICK CODE: 00057.
Q. What is the length of this heater?
A. This heater is 2-foot long (610mm).
Q. I am looking for a heater to protect a pump house at the top of a water bore well to stop the pump and pipes frezzing in cold weather. this is a small area so space is limited. I assume this heater is fitted with a thermostat as it is a frost protector? Please could you tell me at what Temp the heater kicks in? Is this variable or fixed? Will it stop water pipes freezing? Will it protect down to minus 13 to 20 centigrade as we have recnetly seen this winter?
A. This heater is perfect for keeping a well insulated area of around 6'x6' frost free. Keeping external sourced pipes from freezing is a little more comlicated though. These can freeze from the outside in so I would suggest using a 2 or 3kw fan heater (Accessories>>Heaters>>Electric Heaters) set at between 8-12 degrees in an attempt to keep the pipes flowing.
Q. Is there a thermostate with this heater?
A. All tube heaters by Hylite have a safety cut off to prevent over-heating. But they can be used in conjunction with a BioGreen Thermo 2 thermostat if one is required.
Q. can this tube be used vertical ?
A. These heaters must be horizontal to prevent burn-out.
Q. I have a cold 6 x 8 greenhouse. I would like to grow some plants from seeds but the greenhouse needs to be 15 - 20C Would this light tube work?
A. You would require a 2kW fan heater to achieve the temperatures that you mention, 55W is the power of a domestic light bulb.
Q. I have your 8" x 10" greenhouse. What is your recomendation for the number of these required to heat it enough just to keep it frost free?
A. I would recommend a Botanic 2kW fan heater[Product ID:5148] for a 8" x 10" greenhouse.
Q. Hi I have a 6m x 6m wooden garage. Last year I was having due/condensation forming on my motorcycles. I have spent all year sorting a roof, gutters, cladding and drainage. Would one of these between the 2 bikes stop the due point hitting the bikes? Thanks.
A. A Slimline Green Eco Heater - 55W Tube heater would no doubt reduce the condensation problem, but is unlikely to be totally effective in very cold weather, after all 55watt is the power of just one light bulb.
Q. Have an 8 X 2 foot greenhouse which I purchased from you earlier in the year I require a heater to keep plants frost free over winter, would this one do the job, if not what would you recommend.
A. You would require a 2kW fan heater such as a Botanico [Product ID: 5148] to guarantee frost free conditions in a 2' x 8' lean-to greenhouse.
Q. Does the Simplicity Classic Old Cottage Green Greenhouse 6ft3 wide (1918mm) x 8ft3 long (2538mm) come with the concrete anchoring set?
A. Hello, the greenhouse doesn't come with the concrete anchoring set as standard. It can be added to the order for £6 extra.
Q. Hi Would 2 of these heaters be suitable to maintain temp just above freezing in a caravan Thanks Brian
A. Hello, these heaters create good heat directly above where they are placed. The heat however doesn't travel very far, you may be better with a fan heater as they distribute the heat much better.
Q. Is this heater enough to keep the 6" octagonal greenhouse frost free?
A. Hello, this heater may struggle. Tubular heaters are good at heating the area they are in but not distributing the heat very well.

Brilliant - works well so far.
It seems to be exactly what we want. Does exactly as said. Compact takes up little room. Nicely delivered too.
Works very well and i would recommend to other people. I use mine to heat the water pipes in the garage over winter and have constructed a small enclosure round the heater and pipes to improve efficiency.
I bought this neat little heater last week and it seems to be ideal for the job, keeping the pipes from freezing in an outhouse, the thermostat is the key.
Bought the small heater for a new lean-to we ordered. Seems perfect. Good price and speedy delivery. Very happy
